Corporate

The River Queen is just perfect for introductory gatherings at the start of a conference. With space to accommodate 100 guests over finger food, the boat offers a relaxed way to begin things, to meet people and to begin to network.

We are also popular as an out-of-conference activity, for small and larger groups. Again, it is the relaxed atmosphere on board and the character of the boat which appeals to so many people.

We hope you choose to come on board when you're in town.

Networking at Conferences
The River Queen provides the ideal informal atmosphere for delegates to socialise, at the start or finish of your conference. It’s a great way for people to relax after a journey to the region or once the formal agenda of the conference is complete.
The various decks encourage flow and movement, so that interaction and mingling are maximised. You can arrange for canapes and drinks or a more formal buffet as we cruise down the Opawa River, out towards Cloudy Bay.
Our central location in Blenheim means that additional transport may be unnecessary or minimal. The River Queen wharf is just a few minutes stroll from the Convention Centre and most local accommodation.
Partners’ activity
You can lay on special cruises for partners while the conference is under way. During the summer season, (from October to the end of April), partner groups would have the option of joining a scheduled cruise for the public. The River Queen typically schedules two cruises a day, every day, during the season: one at lunchtime and the other in the late afternoon.
The alternative to catching a public cruise is arranging a private charter cruise. These are costed on the basis of a minimum of 20 passengers with the option of a short cruise (up to 2 hours) or a full charter (up to 4 hours cruise time and the vessel available at dockside as a private venue on return to the wharf).
Conference dinner
An afternoon or evening dinner cruise is a popular way to finish a conference. We can seat up to 60 passengers in comfort inside the vessel, more if we allow for use of the outer decks. For informal dining, where not everyone is seated, The River Queen is surveyed for up to 99 passengers.
We can cater for your group but are also happy for you to use your own caterers if you prefer.
The River Queen runs a fully licensed bar but will operate a BYO policy (with corkage) if required. For evening functions, our bar license extends to midnight and we can also license the river bank immediately adjacent to the boat for dockside events.

You can charter The River Queen for your private function. There are several options you can take. You can choose a short morning or afternoon tea cruise, which usually runs for around one and a half hours. Or you might prefer a long lunchtime cruise, usually around two and a half hours. Then again, a full evening hire might work best; this gives you the vessel all evening long, up to midnight and we can discuss the cruise time you require.
